Summer lovin' —
When Haely and Tyler told me they wanted to have their engagement session at the state capitol building, I was so excited! They would be my first couple to have a more "cityesque" feel to their photos and I'm a true, blue country girl at heart. I had been to the capitol building a handful of times and was always in awe at the stunning architecture, gorgeous landscaping, and beautiful light and shadows around it. Now, I had the amazing opportunity to photography Haely and Tyler in such a grand location while living out my Pinterest inspired, fairytale dreams. It was a win-win for us all. (Except the heat; we probably could've done without the heat.)

One of the things I truly loved about getting to be creative with Haely and Tyler was that they truly are "trust the process" people. I'm sure I looked a little odd running up and down staircases, acting out poses, and shouting my joy from several hundred feet away, but at no time did either of them stop to question my sanity. We were able to spend time getting to be in the moments together, which is where, in my opinion, couples shine the brightest and their love shows the fullest. It didn't feel like have two individuals in front of a lens; it was more like having two friends to talking with while sort of eavesdropping on their date. Their love is so easy and free and I cannot wait to do this all again for their wedding!

From having small personal fans that we took turns trying to get in front of for cool air, to guzzling water bottles mid-shot, the Midwest summer heat did not let up on his for one second. You would never guess that at any point we were less than 100% comfortable gallivanting around stone walls, dipping into doorways, and stopping on stairs for princess vibes.
